Shower query

I am having difficulty getting into my bath and think a shower would be much easier. I don't have much money though and would not be able to afford fitting one myself. How would I be able to get help with this?

Hello,

Thank you for your query. A common problem that OT’s see is people having difficulty accessing their bathing facilities. If you feel you may need a shower and are unable to afford fitting one yourself, I suggest you contact your local authority OT department. They will take your details and are likely to add you to their waiting list for an OT assessment. The waits vary between authorities. When your name comes to the top, an OT will see you (sometimes at home and sometimes in a clinic, depending on the authority and your needs) to discuss your needs and assess the situation. Often bathing equipment needs to be trialled first before looking at adaptations. If equipment meets your bathing needs, a shower would not be provided. However, if the OT determines you need a shower, they will assist you through the process. Please refer to articles on the front page – Bathing Difficulties and Funding Adaptations to your home. This will provide more detailed information.
I hope this information is useful to you.
