Stairs

My mother is having a lot of difficulty climbing her curved stairs. I was wondering what might make this easier for her.

Hello David, thank you for your enquiry. It would be best if your mother was seen my an OT to make an accurate assessment of what she needs. This can be provided through your local authority, or through a private OT if you choose.
If your mother just needs a little bit of help, rails are often beneficial. A banister on both sides may help, and as they are curved, a newel rail at the turn may help. If she is really struggling and cannot manage at all, a stair lift could be considered. Please contact me if you would like further information or an OT assessment.
